Job Description (Volunteer Position)  

Title:     Landscaper/Gardener          

Supervisor: Facilities Manager/Volunteer Coordinator    

Under the direction of the Facilities Manager & the Volunteer Coordinator, landscaping/gardening volunteers help MSW maintain well-kept grounds and may be involved in one or more of the following duties:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Planning & Designing:

• Strategize economically and environmentally sustainable landscape ideas
• Maintain inventory of supplies
• Give recommendations for supplies & plants to be purchased or solicited

Monthly or Weekly Projects:

• Regular pruning, weeding & other maintenance projects
• Tree trimming
• Watering & fertilizing
• Planting
• Soil preparation

Qualifications:

• Good working knowledge of plants & natural materials
• Ability to use gardening equipment and tools as needed
• Dependable to accomplish tasks on set schedule
• Ability to maintain positive working relationships with MSW staff members, clients, and the general public
